Moving companies by law must have actual weight of your household goods if you have a moving estimate that is calculated by the weight of your items. What is this actual law and is it state or federal? I just got scammed by a moving company, and they refused to weigh the truck after the unload, they just took off. How do I go after them?

The actual law is federal, it’s the U.S. Department of Transportation Law. If you closed with the moving company on moving estimate that is going by weigh they have to weigh the truck if you request them to do so. You say that they unload the truck, i can understand from that the move is done. Usually they weigh the truck before they unload. I am not a lawyer and i can not give you a legal advise. Probably the best thing for you to do is first to call the U.S. Department of Transportation, the telephone numbers for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration are 202-366-2960 and 202-366-9999 second is to ask a lawyer what to do in this case.
